Hot Doug’s Closing Soon

Posted

The countdown for the last days of Hot Doug’s, Roscoe Village’s famed sausage king, is ending soon.  As a Chicago real estate agent, I am reminded by this as I drive by each morning to see an early line of committed patrons already lining up, hours early, in anticipation of its opening their doors for one of the near last times.  Hot Doug’s was always a great place of good humor and great eats.

Roscoe Village has a wonderful tradition of great restaurants that cater to the nearby communities. It has a low-key feel that still provides excellent diversity for different tastes and cravings. It is a bit more mature than nearby Wrigleyville and less trendy than Bucktown. Hot Doug’s had moved off of the main strip on Roscoe, east of the river to the corner of Roscoe and California. I was relocated near the offices of WMS. Darn lucky gamers! This is arguably Avondale, but who’s counting?  It became a culinary gem in an otherwise residential/light industrial area.

We don’t know yet what will replace the beloved restaurant in the hearts of Chicagoans, but we hope it will be at least half as fun!

Hot Doug’s will close its doors officially on Oct. 3, 2014.

We will miss you Doug! Thanks for the memories.
